No matter whether driving the car fast or slow, Doug has the line to drive that track ingrained in his soul.

    My Sebring Ride with ChinTrackDays!

What a thrill riding with the advanced drivers with ChinTrackDays at our South Florida Miata Club event at the famed Sebring Speedway! This was my ride in a Subaru flying by the grandstand! Now that’s an “E” ticket ride….

    Sebring Trip

Had a great time at Sebring! Betsy had a blast riding with Doug and I had the experience of a life time riding with ChinTrackDays driver in his Subaru. What a highly skilled driver hammering in and out of the turns! Thanks Doug for setting up many of the days events!

    Sebring Recap

I want to thank Doug Quara for showing us all his wonderful hospitality today at Sebring.

Besides performing his duties at the track as a pro driver and teaching /riding with his assigned driver for 30 minute sessions throughout the day, he took the time to set up our parade laps and also took many of us for speed laps in his car during his down time too.

I know everyone in attendance really appreciated his time and effort on our behalf. I’m sure it was a tiring day for him but we all owe him a big THANK YOU!

We got to do 4 parade laps in our cars which was a lot of fun and many of us took advantage of purchasing a wrist band and riding with the pro drivers at speed throughout the day. It was a lot of fun for all of us.

One sad note, we missed out on having Blas join us. He started north with us in the morning and due to a driving mishap in the rain, blew out two tires and couldn’t make the trip. We really missed you being there with us.

Thanks again to Doug and all the members who joined us today. I know we all had a great time!

Just to set the record straight: I am not a “pro” driver. I am a track day hobbyist. At some point during my track day driving career, when Chin Track Days (nee Chin Motorsports) was just beginning to spread its wings, I participated as a paid entrant. Soon thereafter, I was approached and recruited to be a volunteer instructor. The business model Chin Track Days, and other groups like Performance Driving Group, has hobbyists such as myself, complemented by true “pro” drivers, as instructors; we get “paid” by free track time. So, for sitting in the right seat with novices, we get to play economically. My motivation is somewhat altruistic. It is supremely satisfying to be able to take a novice in the morning, maybe in his or her first track day, who doesn’t even know way the track goes, and have them going very fast, well on their way acquiring skills to drive solo. The instructors these groups recruit include true pro racers, professional driving coaches, and people such as myself who are reasonably fast, know the rules and procedures, and importantly, have a mild disposition and can communicate well.

Glad everyone had a good time. My only regret is that there seem to have been more people wanting to ride than there were sessions for me to accommodate them, so apologies to those who may have missed a ride.

        Doug,
Whether you are a paid professional driver or not, to those of us fortunate enough to have ridden with you in the Track Rat, you are a ” pro ” driver in every sense of the word!

Yes a little mishap in the middle of nowhere, sarrounded by sugarcane fields and the closest town Belle Glades closed for business on Sundays. With one blowed tire and other loosing air, priorities changed fast. Thanks God for the little mishap and getting us back home safe and sound.
My appreciation to Karl and Mark for their assistant.

        Blas,
Look at it this way…………………..this is God’s way of telling you that you need to buy a new ND with stability control system built in to the car.
