The first boats with the 30th Anniversary Edition Orange MX-5’s have reached the U.S. . Thirty were off loaded in San Diego today. Pic of the first RF to be off loaded. Hopefully the 2 club members who were lucky enough to order theirs will be receiving them very soon.

    Tradewinds Park Christmas Light Show

The Tradewinds Christmas Light show was wonderful as usual. I took a video and it was superbly edited by Jeff Cooper. He edited it and added festive music. Thank you Jeff!!!

Click on the link below. You will see rain drops on the windshield at the end. Everyone hurried to put up their roofs 🙂 We made it and off we went to get ice cream.

    Jungle Queen Cruise Road Trip

Although the weather was a little stifling at times, our road trip to the Jungle Queen was a fun time. Besides the tour of the Intracoastal Waterways, we were served an all-you-can-eat dinner of barbecued ribs, chicken and shrimp. After dinner we were entertained by some very funny comedians that had us all laughing. A fun time was had by all.

Attached is a video courtesy of Jeff Cooper of our trip.

    Tail of the Dragon Videos

Check this one off the bucket list. What a time for my camera to crap out. I did save a couple of video portions of Moonshiner28 approaching the Dragon southern end from the East. Beautiful country. I shared on youtube.

I went south to north and on to Knoxville not realizing my camera was not recording. I was so focused on the car, motorcycles, the road and LEO’S that I totally forgot to check the camera. Oh well, I had a blast! My new tires stuck well and the car performed great.

I just wish I could have been up there early August when there will be 3 to 4 hundred Miata’s at the gap.

Had to be my lucky GATOR beads hanging on the rear-view. Oh well, next time they get removed.

    Track Day at PBIR

It was a great time. I attended the Novice meeting which explained safety and track rules. Yes, I did exceed 90mph on the back straight as I was doing my best to keep up with the BMW in front of me. I had no idea where the lead train was as I was focused on being safe and cautious, accelerating hard on the straights and extra cautious in the corners. This may not have been the norm, but I had a blast!

Thanks for sharing your experience and your video. If you first upload future videos to YouTube or Vimeo, you can easily add that link to your post here on the Miata we site and share the video with all.

Hi, Tom. Sorry I didn’t have more time to spend with you after you came off the track’s parade laps. You caught Steve and me right when we were trying to switch cars and go out for the next session, apologies if we kind of ran off on you. Glad to hear you had a great time. I just posted about the same event scheduled in September. Hope you will consider entering as a novice to feel the Full Monty experience!

Video near The Gap and The Dragon

For those considering going to Miata’s at the Gap.  Cherohala Skyway is the Southern Edge of one of the recommended loops of driving “The Dragon.”

We were going from Asheville, NC to Atlanta, GA.  We traveled the whole Cherohala Skyway and then did scenic Tennessee highway 68 to get to GA.

Going this incredibly scenic route added just over an hour to the trip instead of doing it all in the interstate.

    Car is 2016 Club.

I feel like it’s cheating, but I have one of the Garmin VIRB cameras. A lot like a gopro. It has GPS, Altimeter and G-Force sensors built in.

I mostly just used the software that comes with it which allows you to position the various overlays. I did do some work with the audio in iMovie, but it’s not required.

Not so simple is getting engine data (from a bluetooth dongle that plugs into your cars OBDII port) to reliably be transferred to the camera. Still working on that.

Really nice video, Steve. How did you include the small route graphic and altimeter in the video?
