    A Day to Honor Veterans

As we relax this fine Sunday, let’s take a moment to remember the veterans of our nation who served valiantly in the face of great danger to defend our nation’s ideals.

    August Monthly Meeting

We had a very nice turnout yesterday for our August Monthly meeting. We welcomed two new members, Russell and David, who just purchased new 2018 ND’s with Cherry Red soft tops. Beautiful cars. Hope you have many miles of smiles with them.

A lot of exciting road trips on the horizon so please check the events tab regularly.

Cars For Cancer Journeys Road Rally

Here’s an interesting Miata them road trip: raising awareness of prostate cancer beginning on August 15, 2018.

“My name is Robert Hess, I’m a 15-year prostate cancer survivor, and I’m reaching out to car clubs across the US and Europe about the 2018 Tour de USA road rally world record attempt beginning August 26th in Los Angeles.

I’m donating 23 days this summer crossing the western United States and back for prostate cancer awareness. The goal save the lives of the 27,000 men who die every year from prostate cancer.”

World Record Road Rally Attempt for Prostate Cancer Survivors

The rally begins in Los Angeles on August 26th and goes to St. George, Utah, Durango, Colorado, Pikes Peak, Colorado, Kansas City, Kansas, Lincoln, Nebraska, Cheyenne, Wyoming, Little Big Horn, Montana, Boise, Idaho, Eugene, Oregon, Thunderhill Raceway at Willows, California, Santa Rosa, California, Laguna Seca, California, Santa Ynez, California, finishing in Manhattan Beach, California on September 19th.

This is an all-volunteer project. Registration proceeds go to the Cancer Journeys Foundation (http://www.CancerJourneys.org) to support their free prostate cancer early detection system (prostatetrackerapp.com).

We are after a dual world record: 1) the longest charity road rally (pretty much in the bag) and 2) the largest charity road rally – most participants (we really need support!!!) We’re reaching out to 452 auto enthusiast clubs with an estimated total membership of just over 12,000 members. So, we can do it.

    Jungle Queen Cruise Road Trip

Although the weather was a little stifling at times, our road trip to the Jungle Queen was a fun time. Besides the tour of the Intracoastal Waterways, we were served an all-you-can-eat dinner of barbecued ribs, chicken and shrimp. After dinner we were entertained by some very funny comedians that had us all laughing. A fun time was had by all.

Attached is a video courtesy of Jeff Cooper of our trip.

    Road Trips

We hope everyone enjoys the great road trips that are planned each month for our club members. We try to have a variety of venues included so each member can plan to attend as often as possible during the year. In speaking with other Miata owners who are club members throughout the world, we are one of the few clubs that have both monthly meetings and road trips planned each month throughout the year for our members to enjoy. We hope everyone appreciates the time and efforts put in to make this such a great club. Looking forward to the next meet up down the road.

    A Great Road Trip

It Was A Great Road Trip.

Sunday October 22’s Road Trip to the Edison / Ford Winter Homes and Museum was a smashing success. The planning and execution displayed true teamwork at it’s best. John arranged lunch at Pincher’s with our compatriots from the Southwest Coast Miata Club. Mark helped with registration. Gary led the convoy. I arranged the tour and Rob coordinated all notices through the website.

Our car club is rolling like a well-oiled machine and everyone is having a Zoom Zoom Good Time.

November is a big month for the club:

    • Nov. 4: Monthly Meeting At Jimmy, the Greek Restaurant, Boca Raton led by Fran & Ron – RSVP
    • Nov. 18: Annual Thanksgiving Feast at Grampas, Dania Beach – RSVP
    • Nov. 26: Junior Orange Bowl Parade in Coral Gables, a chance to decorated the cars – RSVP

Please RSVP find all details on the website.
