Florida Keys Road Trip – May 20th

Our trip to Islamorada and the History & Discovery Center is 3 weeks away. The director of the museum is going to accommodate the clubs visit by having the museum curator give us a private tour but I need to let her know by the first week of May how many members will be joining us on this trip so they can reserve our space.

If you are planning on joining us on this road trip, please log in to our web site and confirm your reservation under the event page by May 7th.

It will be much appreciated so we can plan accordingly. Looking forward to another fun Miata Club road trip in May.

It’s a solid review, addresses most salient points — pro and con — and captures the essence of the experience well.

    Wheels Across the Pond review

Lou’s Review of Wheels Across the Pond

What a terrific time. There had to be a couple of hundred roadsters, classic cars and vintage cars all spread out by make and model across acres of a beautiful park in Jupiter. It was a beautiful day for a road trip for a car club.

    Wheels Across the Pond 2017

“Wheels” is always held on the Saturday prior to Easter and will become a staple road trip for South Florida Miata Club.

Kudos to John Morris for being the originator of the idea and to Mark Gilbert for all of the logistical help. We finished up sitting around having a laugh-filled lunch at the nearby Rustic Inn. It was a wonderful day.

    For Sale: 2016 6-speed Club w Brembo/BBS wheels: $23k

2016 6-speed Club in Jet Black Mica/black interior (cloth), BBS wheels and Brembo brakes with 11k miles.

The Club edition has the LSD, Bilstein shocks, and strut tower brace. Trunklid spoiler.

Options: keyless entry and full Mazda aero kit (front/rear/side). Piano black roll hoop covers and piano black cupholders.

I have always hand-washed the car myself, no scratches or swirl marks in the paint. It has been garaged night AND day. Florida car, never seen snow.

No accidents. One owner (me). Oil changed at 5k and 10k miles by Mazda (synthetic).

    • Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs (I still have the factory springs and come with the sale of the car)
    • Goodwin Racing Race exhaust (Also have the factory exhaust, which will come with the sale of the car)
    • OpenFlash Tune (stage 1) (You get the tablet, where you can flash it back to the stock ECU if you’d like. No, Mazda dealerships have not voided anyone’s warranty because of them being tuned. Look on the Miata.net forums to see several people with tunes still getting warrantied work done.)
    • Custom red vinyl stripe along the entire aero kit (professionally installed)
    • Tinted vinyl side/front parking light covers
    • Side/rear glass tinted
    • Genuine Mazda door sill plates
    • Carbon fiber shifter surround
    • CarbonMiata quilted faux leather floor mats and trunk mat (black with black stitching) (You will also get the original MX-5 floor mats)
    • Stubby antenna (You will get the factory antenna too)
    • Voodoo Magnum shift knob in piano black
    • All manuals and extra key fob (one has a carbon fiber cover)
    • Original window sticker that says $34k window sticker price with all options

Car has been meticulously and lovingly cared for. Interior shows no wear at all.

What was the estimate of number of cars?

      • Robert Burr 1:26pm on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 Permalink | Reply

I counted 345 parked on the field, not including the ones on display by vendors

        • Mark Gilbert 1:46pm on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 Permalink | Reply

That’s far less than the 600 cars they said had RSVP’d to be going. According to the guy from the Tampa Club who was the organizer, they had 1137 people in attendance. Looks like it was a fun time though no matter how many cars were there.

They had about 1137 raffle tickets handed out. But that included the vendors. I know. I was in that raffle for 1.5 hours. Didn’t win anything though 🙁
